Munnuru Kapu : ウィキペディア英語版 | Munnuru Kapu
Munnuru Kapu is a caste in Telangana, India. == Etymology == ''Munnuru Kapu'' is a combination of two Telugu words: ''Munnuru'', meaning ''300'', and ''Kapu,'' meaning ''protector of the land'', the task they perform during wars, while becoming farmers during peacetime. This appears to be a caste classification given in the later period of the Kakatiya Empire in present-day Telangana, India. According to the history recorded in the book Munnuru Kapu Kula Abhyudayamu some of the great chieftains of Kakatiya's were from this community. During and after the fall of Kingdoms many of them took up trading, money lending. That is why some of their surnames have Shetty/setty. Common surnames with setty title are Bhairyshetty, desetty, somishetty, pothamshetty, kesetti etc. A few of them use title Reddy but off late its use is on decreasing trend, but people who have reddy in their surname(housename) still continue to use it. Like Komireddy BajiReddy, etc. Patel is being used as their name addition as they were called from ancient times meaning protector in the current trend.
